Behind the Scenes - Meet our long-term employees: Adam Glowacki

GAW Adam Glowacki behind the scenes

Did you know that GAW employs several colleagues that have been working in our company for more than 40 years?

For example Adam Glowacki, the General Manager of our American subsidiary GAW Paper Coating Systems.

He joined our staff 45 years ago in 1979 during his studies as a part-time trainee in the electrical department and became a full-time employee two years later. He was trained in process engineering for coating kitchens, de-inking chemical systems and wet end chemical systems.
In 1987 Adam moved to America and worked on Canadian projects like Island Paper Mills and MacMillan Bloedel Port Alberni Mill from the GAW Calgary office.
With the recycling boom in the USA, Augusta Newsprint and Champion became the first deinking projects in the US in 1990. GAW supplied the chemical systems for the deinking process.
GAW Chicago opened in 1992. As technical director, Adam oversaw the first coating kitchen project at FSC Paper in Alsip IL.
1994 the Calgary office closed and Adam took over as General Manager of GAW in Chicago which is responsible for the North and South American market.
It was in 2006 that he opened GAW Sao Paulo Brazil office inspired by the large investment opportunities on the Brazilian market.
Two years later due to large investments and project opportunities in India, he began a relationship with Voith India which culminated in successful projects in TNPL, Century, JK Rayagada, etc. In 2013 the subsidiary GAW India was founded to meet the increasing demand and further opportunities in this fast growing market. Ranjit Narayanan was hired as managing director of GAW India.

Some of his project highlights and contributions to the company’s success in other business areas besides coating and preparation: In 2017 he visited a non-woven glass fiber facility and introduced the GAW process to Owens Corning. This led to a successful project and has opened the door to many more non-woven applications for GAW.
Just recently Adam presented the GAW technology for a binder room application in non-woven viscose and polymer fibers to a new customer. Additionally, this could provide GAW novel opportunities in yet another industry.

The father of two sons also has a life besides work - some passions during his free time include travel, music, theatre, bike riding and just lounging at the pool.

GAW is proud and fortunate to call so many loyal and devoted colleagues our employees. Stay tuned for more profiles from our long-term staff within the near future.
