Behind the scenes - Research and Development at GAW - Christian Stine

Behin the scenes Stine

Did you know that GAW employs many colleagues that have been working in our company for more than 35 years?

For example our research and development expert – Christian Stine.

He joined our staff 45 years ago in 1978 as an apprentice training design draftsman. Over the next two decades his career path evolved with further steps as a mechanical design engineer and project manager. Since 2000 he is leading the research and development department and is responsible for new design engineering and development.

Some of his design/engineering contributions to the company’s success include:

1995: Co-engineering of the VST Dispersing Machine (Variable Shear Thechnology).

2003: Development of the Conti-Mixer (continuous dispersing machine in which a large number of raw materials is processed into a coating mass).

2006: One of his designs was the winner of the CoCreate 3D design competition. In the category for tooling machines and special machinery the GAW vacuum dispersing machine took first place.

2007: The first GAW Ultramill (GCC grinding technology) was implemented.

2010: GAW registered a patent for one of his designs - the CDS (Combined Dispersing System). The patented GAW Combined Dispersing System enables the user to disperse difficult-to-process products at a high solids content, allowing for tremendous flexibility when it comes to recipe formulation. The CDS optimizes the entry of the dry product, reduces the use of dispersant and massively reduces energy consumption.

2012: Christian Stine has also been the driving force behind the implementation of the GAW trial laboratory and technical center.

2018: The laboratory dispersing machine was updated and re-designed. With this machine Christian supports customers in trial tests for the creation of innovative customized solutions in the dispersing technology.

Even outside of the working hours his engineering skills do not rest – a passion during his free time includes repairing cars and motorbikes. He sometimes also constructs new tools in this regard.

GAW is proud and fortunate to call so many loyal and devoted colleagues our employees. Stay tuned for more profiles from our long-term staff within the next weeks and months.
