GAW at the VSP Annual Meeting 2026 at Sappi Gratkorn

Concentrated paper expertise packed in one room:

The annual meeting of the Association of Steyrermuehler Papermakers last week was once again a most welcome gathering of technologists and guests, hosted by Sappi Gratkorn.
Christian Makari and Sigrid Tertinegg from GAW joined the group of more than 80 paper industry executives from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary and China.

Among the technical lectures and presentations:
“Sustainability balance and technological & economic benefits of coating colour recovery in the paper industry” by GAW. Christian Makari presented the results from many installed case studies and references – for example from the plant in Sappi Ehingen. ♻️

Several tours through the impressive paper machines PM11 and PM9 were additional highlights of this event. They were guided by true experts like former CEO´s and management members of this production site.

The Sappi Gratkorn paper mill puts also impressive efforts in safety measures and carbon-reducing projects. A general overview of the company as well as the latest achievements and developments were also presented during the meeting (“Biomass firing – phasing out coal”) with interesting facts and insights by Harald Hacker, Robert Niesser and Nicolas Krajnc. 💡
